Late-night munchies |
Leopoldstraße 19 Schwabing Munich, Bayern 80802 Germany |
Adria is a traditional meeting spot for those who get the munchies late. Orders are taken from 10:30a-3a. You can go for classics like pizza (from EUR 4.50) and pasta ( EUR 5.35) or try one of the numerous fish or meat dishes. The helpings are very big and the prices reasonable. Adria also does good business with its take-away service. For (1.75) you can get a lasagne, a slice of pizza or a vegetable bake to take away. Drinks cost (EUR 1). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Late night munchies for the In-crowd |
Fraunhoferstr. 17 (Cross street Klenzestraße) Munich, Bayern 80469 Germany +49 89 2325 9858 |
The line snakes out the door all night long and party-goers in need of regenerative calories crowd the entryway hoarding paper trays of the Bergwolf's specialty, "Currywurst," a large sausage cut into bite-sized pieces and smothered in a curry ketchup sauce. Vegetarians can go for the piping hot French fries smothered in ketchup and mayonnaise, called "Rotweiß" (red/white), and those watching their waistline can order the "Jogger's" version: without mayo. If you can fight through the crowd, the back of the bar is a cozy, dimly lit setting with a larger selection of drinks, simple wooden tables, and the same yummy snacks brought right to your table—if you can find a seat. -Emily Flechtner Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mexico in Munich |
Leopoldstrasse 44 Munich, Bayern 80802 Germany +49 89 3301 9330 http://www.donluca.de |
Don Luca has two locations in Munich, both full of Mexican kitsch and a certain cozy-meets-mass-produced flair. Come for the well-priced cocktails, which are even cheaper during happy hour. The "Top Five" specials are always 4.90€ and include hits like the Touchdown, Mai Tai and Caipi. The food is no culinary feat, especially for those of us used to authentic Mexican food, but the Giant Pizza Special on Monday for the bargain price of 9.90€ will feed at least three hungry people, and cocktail slurpers can't complain about the Cheese Smothered Nachos or Toasty Quesadillas. Happy hour daily from 5-8p, and Mo-Th 11p-closing. A second Don Luca is located at Morassistrasse 2. See website for more details. Olé! -Emily Flechtner Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beer and a kebab anyone? |
Feilitzschstraße 7 Schwabing Munich, Bayern 80802 Germany +49 89 39 2642 http://www.mamas-kebaphaus.de/ |
Mama's Kebaphaus is almost an institution in Altschwabing. This snack bar (with seating) is in the centre of the bar district and is a magnet for everyone who has been out for a couple of beers and needs something to fill the gap on the way home. However, this eatery is not just for night owls and you can choose between the daily special, and a delicious range of Turkish dishes. Nevertheless, it has to be said that the speciality of the house is the doner kebab. There is also a good choice of drinks ranging from long drinks, aperitifs, Sekt (German equivalent of champagne), liqueurs, wine, spirits and - let's not forget the staple refreshment in Munich - beer! Good food in the Kunstpark Ost |
Grafingerstraße 6 Kunstpark Ost Munich, Bayern 81671 Germany +49 89 4900 2153 http://www.nachtkantine.de |
Apart from the odd snack bar, this is the only restaurant in Kunstpark Ost. It offers mainly American food, such as burgers from EUR7.25 as well as pizza and pasta from EUR4.25-6.25 - good value for Munich. The turnover of guests is high as people come and go all the time. The hectic pace is heightened by the loud techno music played by various DJs - and all this in a room for 800 people! If you're just finishing the night, then you can begin the next day here - a full breakfast is available for EUR7. Review © 2007, Wcities |
