See the Wine Country by goat |
4762 Petrified Forest Rd (Happy Hollow Ranch) Napa Valley, CA 94515 United States +1 510 644 1600 |
This outfit will take you and a friendly pack-carrying goat out for a two-hour hike in the hills overlooking Calistoga and the Napa Valley. The goats can carry 35 pounds, more than enough for water, wine, picnic and video equipment. And, goats insist on a moderate pace, comfortable for any level hiker. The tour guides emphasize stopping, looking and listening to the quiet goings-on of nature. Prices vary; call for further information. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Montelena wines first |
1429 Tubbs Lane Calistoga Napa Valley, CA 94515 United States +1 707 942 5105 http://www.montelena.com/ customer-service@montelena.com |
The soil is rich and the sunny Californian climate is ideal for nurturing grapes and subsequent wine making. Alfred Tubbs recognized the above and succeeded in crafting the much sought after Napa Valley Chardonnay. In fact at Montelena, grapevine has it that fine grapes give rise to fine wine culture. Napa County's nine holes |
1435 Oak St (Napa County Fairgrounds) Napa Valley, CA 94515 United States +1 707 942 9966 http://www.napacountyfairgroun... |
This unassuming but adequate golf facility in Calistoga is located on the northeast side of the Napa County Fairgrounds. The nine-hole, par 34-course is simple with immaculate greens and a challenging course. But it doesn't offer any fancy frills or thrills like the more resort-like courses in the Napa Valley. Mount St. Helena Golf Course is ideal for the golfer who wants a good game at a good price. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The real deal! |
1299 Tubbs Lane Napa Valley, CA 94515 United States +1 707 942 6463 http://www.oldfaithfulgeyser.com geyser@oldfaithfulgeyser.com |
The term 'old faithful' is most closely associated with the Yellowstone Park geyser, but it is actually used to describe any geyser that erupts on a regular schedule. Napa Valley's version is a blast! Boiling hot water shoots 60 feet into the crystal blue sky, while spectators gather casually round and gasp every 30 minutes or so. Driving by, you might mistake this for a tourist trap; a little worn down, more than a little tacky from the outside; but rest assured, it really is worth the price of admission. Don't miss the poor little fainting goats on the side, and the fascinating exhibit on geyser eruptions and earthquake predictions. Seek out owner Olga Kolbek; she's a gold mine of fascinating local lore. Admission: $8 adults, $7 seniors (60+), $3 children 6-12; under 6 free. Review © 2007, Wcities |
