Attractive lounge |
1351 Main St Napa Valley, CA 94574 United States +1 707 963 1969 http://www.1351lounge.com |
Located in a building that used to house a local dive called The Cellar, this hip lounge has been receiving rave reviews. It is a great place to pop in after work and spy on local politicians engaged in animated conversation over a drink, or catch the live music or occassional stand up comic on Friday and Saturday nights. This is a very attractive place with classy decor, excellent service, and an all-around good vibe. The martinis have become a local legend. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Rustic charm |
1250 Lincoln Ave Napa Valley, CA 94515 United States +1 707 942 4101 http://www.napabeer.com |
In an area best known for highbrow tastes and attitudes, this gem offers a welcomed touch of rustic reality. Located inside the Calistoga Inn, this restaurant and brewery is a clandestine retreat from the heavy flow of tourists in Napa. Its patio overlooks the banks of the Napa River and during the warm months, the kitchen staff can be seen cooking outdoors over wood-fired grills. The menu harvests a wide range of global influences, including Spanish, Mexican and Jamaican. Starter plates are diverse and perfect for sharing. The Country Paella - saffron rice with imported chorizo, chicken, shellfish and vegetables - stands out in a menu of meats, fishes and pastas. An adjacent brewery serves award-winning micro-brews. Visit on the weekend for live acoustic music in its pub. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Art extraordinaire and wine, too |
4411 Redwood Rd (off Hwy 29 near Yountville) Napa Valley, CA 94558 United States +1 877 707 4377 / +1 707 255 1144 http://www.hesscollection.com/ |
Swiss millionaire Donald Hess displays a portion of his magnificent art collection at this renovated Christian Brothers Winery. The original stone structures built in 1903 were retained in the new facility, which also includes an audio-visual room, a 13,000-square-foot art gallery and an upscale store. While the wines are simple by Napa standards, they are both decent and affordable. The winery produces two varietals, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon, under two different labels: The Hess Collection and the bargain label Hess Select, made with grapes from Monterey County. Stage it on!! |
1030 Main Street Napa Valley, CA United States +1 707 226 7372 http://www.nvoh.org/ |
Restored in 2003, this magnificent Opera house never knew it would live to see its good old days again. But now, its fate has reversed and restored it stands. With a whole bunch of activities happening in this beautiful place, the ones to look out for would be the play 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change'; there is also the Indigo Girls' performance that should not be missed, but the highlight should be 'Elevation 63', which features acrobats from the ages of eight to 21 - this play has a creative outburst that is innovative and compelling. But for those who love their funny bone tickled, do not miss the stand-up comedy competition, or better yet compete in it. Making a fool of yourself could not be more fun. Review © 2007, Wcities |
