Located in a building that used to house a local dive called The Cellar, this hip lounge has been receiving rave reviews. It is a great place to pop in after work and spy on local politicians engaged in animated conversation over a drink, or catch the live music or occassional stand up comic on Friday and Saturday nights. This is a very attractive place with classy decor, excellent service, and an all-around good vibe. The martinis have become a local legend. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Ideal Family Meal |
6476, Washington Street Napa Valley, CA 94599 United States +1 707 944 2487 http://www.adhocrestaurant.com/ |
At the sleek-looking Ad Hoc, chef Thomas Keller takes the average American meal and turns it up a notch. Although the decor may be sparse, with plain white walls and chrome tables, the food is anything but. For starters, ease into the Haricots Verts and Garden Fig Salad, and then move your way up to the Bacalao & Chick Pea Soup. Finish off the night with a heavenly Chocolate Bread Pudding topped with whipped caramel cream. Though pricey, the meals leave you wishing you could eat Keller-style every day. Hard day at work? Need to unwind? Then this shop is for you. The best selection of wines can be found under this roof. Yet this shop offers more. There are a few wines for tasting at all times and also a lot of theme nights, like Friday Night Wine Flights, Guest Wineries at Back Room Wines on Saturdays and sit-down blind tastings on Wednesdays. And you can even buy a bottle of wine at retail price and drink it here. So if tea is all you drink, then here is a suggestion. Try a bit of wine, or just sip it. It's free! Review © 2007, Wcities |

In an area best known for highbrow tastes and attitudes, this gem offers a welcomed touch of rustic reality. Located inside the Calistoga Inn, this restaurant and brewery is a clandestine retreat from the heavy flow of tourists in Napa. Its patio overlooks the banks of the Napa River and during the warm months, the kitchen staff can be seen cooking outdoors over wood-fired grills. The menu harvests a wide range of global influences, including Spanish, Mexican and Jamaican. Starter plates are diverse and perfect for sharing. The Country Paella - saffron rice with imported chorizo, chicken, shellfish and vegetables - stands out in a menu of meats, fishes and pastas. An adjacent brewery serves award-winning micro-brews. Visit on the weekend for live acoustic music in its pub. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The restaurant is famous for its award-winning wine list that only features the best of the Wine Country, including many rare and older vintages. Dine alfresco on a floral-lined patio or admire the view from inside. The decor is a bit stiff, but the strict neutral colors are softened with the abundant presence of florals. The ambiance, however, is romantic and chic enough to bring clients. The menu focuses on flavor, where it is in pastas and risottos, or exotic meats like boar and ostrich. The menu changes regularly to take advantage of fresh, seasonal ingredients. For lighter fare, enjoy small plates offered at the bar. Stop in on Thursday night for Sliders Night when a special slider-beer combination is offered. Located directly off of Highway 29, it's an easy find for both locals and tourists. Venison flank steak, pan-fried sand dabs and day boat scallops are just a few of the choice offerings you might find on a visit to this culinary mecca. Dessert brings a whole selection of favorites, once again perked up with helpings of fresh fruit and other bits of goodness. Don't forget the expertly assembled beer and wine lists. No trip to the Napa Valley would be complete without a meal at Redd. Home of mind-blowing innovative seasonal menus and top-notch wine pairings. This Yountville gourmet destination keeps connoisseurs guessing - and drooling for more. The decor is minimalist: a strict color palate of whites and blacks with traces of natural wood. The large windows keep the room bright and airy, and bringing in the colors and seasons of Yountbille. First courses may include such rare delights as Glazed Pork Belly, a Foie Gras Medley, Rabbit Mole or Lobster Risotto. Entrees are no less artful than Halibut Saltimbocca or Moroccan Spiced Lamb Loin. Feeling truly saucy? Opt for a five-course tasting menu, wine pairing comes at additional cost.
