Celebration of the glorious mustard seed |
Copia 500 1st Street Napa, CA 94558 +1 707 944 1133 http://www.mustardfestival.com/ info@mustardfestival.org |
As you would expect of a festival in one of the world's premier culinary venues, much of the doings at this North Bay event revolve around gourmet food and wine, often hosted in one of the Valley's elegant wineries. There are also exciting art exhibitions featuring both new and established artists, as well as competitions to find the best mustards in a variety of categories. With months of festivities (January to April), there is a lot to see, do, eat, and drink, including a golf tournament sponsored by the Smothers Brothers Winery and a cooking competition that is Napa's own version of Iron Chef. Off the pole you go! |
200 Warm Springs Road, Plaza Park Kenwood, Sonoma County Sonoma, CA 95452 +1 707 833 2440 http://www.kenwoodpillowfights... information@kenwoodpillowfights.com |
Every year, Kenwood has a very special way of celebrating the Independence Day - apart from the traditional parade, there is an interesting event called the World Pillow Fighting Championships. All the fun and excitement generated during this event is really worth watching. Come by and don't be fooled by the ease with which the champions glide through the pole, as it's not as easy as it appears. The participant has to balance himself, while holding a wet pillow in one hand, and try to get through to the other side. Wait, that's not all - another participant would have already started from the other side at the same point of time. The winner is the one who's able to reach the other side, without being knocked down into the muck. The defeat might not be bitter but it definitely isn't a very tasty one! Review © 2007, Wcities |
