Napa Valley, CA 94574
United States
+1 707 963 3003
http://www.ambrosebiercehouse.com
Ambrose Bierce, author of The Devil's Dictionary, was famed for writing ghost stories, for being a misanthrope and for disappearing mysteriously and permanently in Mexico. This 1872 Victorian is his house, packed with Bierce memorabilia. There's nothing at all spooky about this lovely Saint Helena bed and breakfast. Nor could the proprietors be less misanthropic. The appointments are in the best Victorian taste. There are four guest room: the Ambrose Bierce suite, The Lillie Langtry Room, The Eadweard Muybridge Room and The Mollie Day Room.

The huge suites at this bed and breakfast resort all have their own separate entrances and you can be as private as you wish while lounging amidst the French doors, lush carpeting and drapes and spectacular views of the garden, pool and latticed courtyard. Bury yourself away in the library or dine out in the courtyard. Even though this place is around the corner from everything in Calistoga, it feels like you're out in the countryside. Run by experienced Scottish innkeepers, the inn's excellent service has won rave reviews from tourists and locals alike.

You will never be a stranger at this romantic country inn, not even the first time you stay here. All the elegance of a shade-filled romantic retreat in the countryside is here and the hospitality is top notch. Enjoy a spectacular view of the countryside and vineyards, and the location is near anything you desire to see. The rooms are opulent: stone walls, patios, love seats, scarlet carpets, oak armoires, ceiling fans and an overall romantic setting. Well worth the money as you'll also get complimentary wine every day. It is a great place for a romantic getaway.

This comfortable country inn prides itself on not being a Victorian, so your rooms don't come with stuffed animals, etc. This is designed to be a romantic getaway location, as it overlooks hills and vineyards. The rooms are all individually themed, and all of them are characterized by an ocean of colors and luxurious Old World style. Enjoy a nightcap by your private fireplace or a comfortable sleep on one of the huge beds. The antiques and the quilts and faux-painted walls will make your stay a pleasing one and the service is extremely attentive.

Wisteria Garden

Charming cottages
1508 Fairway St
Napa Valley, CA 94515
United States
+1 707 942 5358
These living quarters are fairly large and one of the spaces actually has a separate living room. Each cottage can hold up to five people. The decor is simple but charming, and the huge oak tree right outside is picturesque. There is no pool, but the friendly proprietor will be glad to give you a free pass for the mineral pool down the street. This is a very good deal and an excellent location as it is near almost everything in Calistoga. A cheerful and laid back establishment, you can bring your dog if you wish.
