The neighborhood French bistro has won numerous awards - it was named top ten of the Bay Area by Gourmet Magazine and best 20 of San Francisco by Zagat Survey. Locals flock here nightly, while tourists are abundant during the weekends. The decor is rustic, taken right out of the French countryside. The service is attentive and knowledgeable. The menu pays homage French home-style cooking. The Coq au Vin is a knockout. The chicken and the mushrooms are engrossed with the rich flavor of the red wine reduction sauce. The dish is presented in a pristine white serving bowl, a beautiful contrast to the vibrant burgundy color of the dish. No trip to Bisto Jeanty is complete without the Citron Givre, lemon sorbet. This desert showcases the chef's personality and commitment to refined homey foods. The lemon sorbet is served in a hollowed lemon, presumably the same lemon used to make the sorbet. The lemon is plated whole, reconstructed on the plate. The presentation is whimsical and the sorbet is a perfect balance of sweet and tart. Throw in a world-class wine selection and you have completed a wonderful dinner by a renowned chef from the Champagne region of France. In 2007, the inaugural year of the Michelin Guide San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country, Bistro Jeanty was awarded a Michelin Star.

The decor, in bistro fashion, is simple and yet elegantly modern. The dinning room is dimly lit, complementing the vibrant burgundy color-palate of the décor. The atmosphere is warm, inviting and always lively. The staff works in unison, leaving no glass empty. Bouchon, is where locals, and tourists crowd on weekends, flock for a good time and meal - always filled with laughter and joy. The zinc bar is ever so crowded with patrons waiting to be seated and those seeking for a cocktail. The food and plating have no frills or fuss, instead the concentration is on the meal. Presentation accentuates technique. In other words, the focus is how precision in technique brings to life ordinary food, like chicken in the Poulet Rôti. The roasted chicken is lightly seasoned and basted in its own juice -after it is roasted, adding moisture to the already tenderized skin. The chicken skin, a sun-kissed golden brown, is crispy and flavorful. The kitchen excels on comfort foods like French onion soup, quiches and French fries. The Pommes Frites are perfectly fried, while the interior of the French fry remains moist. The magic here is the ability to turn everyday ingredients into refined meals through the attention to deal. Profiteroles are the best way to end your meal: golden-flaky puff pastry is filled with homemade vanilla ice cream drowning in chocolate sauce – served table-side. Reservations are required, especially on weekends when the entire Napa Valley is overwhelmed with tourists. In 2007, the inaugural year of the Michelin Guide San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country, Bouchon was awarded a Michelin Star.

Providing freshly baked breads and deserts for Chef Thomas Keller's Yountville restaurants: French Laundry (The), Bouchon and Ad Hoc, Bouchon Bakery delights its customers with many of the same treats. The bakery is small and quaint. Inside you'll find a small display case filled with macaroons, tarts, cookies and Chocolate Bouchons. The delicacies of sweets doesn't end there, though, more often it starts with Chocolate Bouchons. Chocolate Bouchons are up-right, moist brownies with a warm chocolate center that bursts into your mouth with the first bite, all lightly sprinkled with confection sugar. On weekends, the bakery serves decadent donuts. The TKO, Thomas Keller Oreo, is an unusual treat of two buttery chocolate cookies with a white cream filling sandwiched in between. The bakery also serves ready-made sandwiches on baguettes. Prices may seem high, but sweets are so rarely made or packaged with so much detail and passion.

Popular wisdom holds that this is the restaurant that kicked off the latest round in the fine dining craze in the North Bay. That may or may not be true. What is a fact is that chef Cindy Pawlcyn, who went on to the Fog City Diner and The Buckeye Roadhouse, started here and her influence is still felt to this day with house specials such as a marinated flank steak that has a soupcon of Asia about it. The atmosphere, like the food, is upscale roadhouse with an airy dining room with walls that are almost entirely made of windows. The staff is lively and and efficient.

If you love French cuisine, this is one restaurant that you should not miss out on. Styled upon a classic French Inn, the interiors are filled with provencial knick knacks and Rattan furniture. It has great outdoor seating including a fireplace - an ideal place to sit back with a glass of wine and debate on life's travesties. The menus are limited in quantity but definitely not on quality. So try the House-made Pinot cheeseburger or the Croque Madam (a ham and cheese sandwich with a fried egg) or the luscious Cavatappi pasta. No self respecting French restaurant would not have cheese on its menu and Pinot Blanc has a menu full; from Brin D'Amour (from Corsica) to Vacherin (Cow's milk cheese).
