Organic Coffee and Lebanese Mezze |

A great breakfast joint, East West Cafe's servings are out of the ordinary, wild rice with potato soup, chicken fajita, lamb loaf, garden salad, et al. The downtown Sebastopol location is apt for wine tourists to catch a quick meal before heading off to wineries. Voted best Mediterranean fare in Sonoma County, the cafe also offers quite a range of organic products. Moreover, the large portions make up for the supposedly steep prices. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Napa Valley Innovation |

At Pilar, located in downtown Napa, innovation is the name of the game. The lunch menu, while paying homage to home cookin' with items as simple as a ham 'n' cheese sandwich, also features inventions as exotic as crab tostadas and lamb lasagna. At dinner, meals are a bit less linguistically whimsical, but no less elegant. Venison flank steak, pan-fried sand dabs and day boat scallops are just a few of the choice offerings you might find on a visit to this culinary mecca. Dessert brings a whole selection of favorites, once again perked up with helpings of fresh fruit and other bits of goodness. Don't forget the expertly assembled beer and wine lists. Also, Pilar offers cooking class for a $35 fee. Visit their website for details. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Feast til You're Blue in the Face |

No trip to the Napa Valley would be complete without a meal at Redd. Home of mind-blowing innovative seasonal menus and top-notch wine pairings. This Yountville gourmet destination keeps connoisseurs guessing - and drooling for more. The decor is minimalist: a strict color palate of whites and blacks with traces of natural wood. The large windows keep the room bright and airy, and bringing in the colors and seasons of Yountbille. First courses may include such rare delights as Glazed Pork Belly, a Foie Gras Medley, Rabbit Mole or Lobster Risotto. Entrees are no less artful than Halibut Saltimbocca or Moroccan Spiced Lamb Loin. Feeling truly saucy? Opt for a five-course tasting menu, wine pairing comes at additional cost. For a smaller, more casual meal order from menu of small bites: tacos, potstickers and pizza, at the bar. Review © 2007, Wcities |
