Ideal Family Meal |
6476, Washington Street Napa Valley, CA 94599 United States +1 707 944 2487 http://www.adhocrestaurant.com/ |
At the sleek-looking Ad Hoc, chef Thomas Keller takes the average American meal and turns it up a notch. Although the decor may be sparse, with plain white walls and chrome tables, the food is anything but. For starters, ease into the Haricots Verts and Garden Fig Salad, and then move your way up to the Bacalao & Chick Pea Soup. Finish off the night with a heavenly Chocolate Bread Pudding topped with whipped caramel cream. Though pricey, the meals leave you wishing you could eat Keller-style every day. Pastry Pleasures |
6528 Washington Strret Napa Valley, CA 94599 United States +1 707 754 4123 |
Providing freshly baked breads and deserts for Chef Thomas Keller's Yountville restaurants: French Laundry (The), Bouchon and Ad Hoc, Bouchon Bakery delights its customers with many of the same treats. The bakery is small and quaint. Inside you'll find a small display case filled with macaroons, tarts, cookies and Chocolate Bouchons. The delicacies of sweets doesn't end there, though, more often it starts with Chocolate Bouchons. Chocolate Bouchons are up-right, moist brownies with a warm chocolate center that bursts into your mouth with the first bite, all lightly sprinkled with confection sugar. On weekends, the bakery serves decadent donuts. The TKO, Thomas Keller Oreo, is an unusual treat of two buttery chocolate cookies with a white cream filling sandwiched in between. The bakery also serves ready-made sandwiches on baguettes. Prices may seem high, but sweets are so rarely made or packaged with so much detail and passion. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Locals are found at this upscale roadhouse eatery. The large dining room is defined by the rustic aura of the oak wood paneling. The food is all-American: thick juicy steaks, grilled fresh fish and a host of seasonal dishes that show inspired by local produce. The Hoisin-Glazed Baby Back Ribs is a great blend of flavors and textures. The full bar can whip up a martini for you and the wine list has some of the best that Napa has to offer. Are you in the mood for romance? Business? Or just plain old bored? Head on to Napa River Inn. This place offers you restaurants, a jazz club, chocolate shop and many outdoor dining areas. The décor is a comfortable blend of modern with historic, but the most alluring things about this place would be its proximity to about 10 tasting rooms, all located in downtown Napa. Try the different rooms, especially the Capt. Hatt Suite, or the Embarcadero Deluxe room. Even their standard rooms are exclusive. Just head on there. This place is almost paradise on earth. Napa Valley Innovation |
807, Main Street Napa Valley, CA 94559 United States +1 707 252 4474 http://www.pilarnapa.com/ |
At Pilar, located in downtown Napa, innovation is the name of the game. The lunch menu, while paying homage to home cookin' with items as simple as a ham 'n' cheese sandwich, also features inventions as exotic as crab tostadas and lamb lasagna. At dinner, meals are a bit less linguistically whimsical, but no less elegant. Venison flank steak, pan-fried sand dabs and day boat scallops are just a few of the choice offerings you might find on a visit to this culinary mecca. Dessert brings a whole selection of favorites, once again perked up with helpings of fresh fruit and other bits of goodness. Don't forget the expertly assembled beer and wine lists. Also, Pilar offers cooking class for a $35 fee. Visit their website for details. Review © 2007, Wcities |
