Attractive lounge |
1351 Main St Napa Valley, CA 94574 United States +1 707 963 1969 http://www.1351lounge.com |
Located in a building that used to house a local dive called The Cellar, this hip lounge has been receiving rave reviews. It is a great place to pop in after work and spy on local politicians engaged in animated conversation over a drink, or catch the live music or occassional stand up comic on Friday and Saturday nights. This is a very attractive place with classy decor, excellent service, and an all-around good vibe. The martinis have become a local legend. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wine anyone? |
974 Franklin Street Napa Valley, CA 94559 United States +1 707 226 1378 / +1 877 322 2576 http://www.backroomwines.com/ |
Hard day at work? Need to unwind? Then this shop is for you. The best selection of wines can be found under this roof. Yet this shop offers more. There are a few wines for tasting at all times and also a lot of theme nights, like Friday Night Wine Flights, Guest Wineries at Back Room Wines on Saturdays and sit-down blind tastings on Wednesdays. And you can even buy a bottle of wine at retail price and drink it here. So if tea is all you drink, then here is a suggestion. Try a bit of wine, or just sip it. It's free! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Rustic charm |
1250 Lincoln Ave Napa Valley, CA 94515 United States +1 707 942 4101 http://www.napabeer.com |
In an area best known for highbrow tastes and attitudes, this gem offers a welcomed touch of rustic reality. Located inside the Calistoga Inn, this restaurant and brewery is a clandestine retreat from the heavy flow of tourists in Napa. Its patio overlooks the banks of the Napa River and during the warm months, the kitchen staff can be seen cooking outdoors over wood-fired grills. The menu harvests a wide range of global influences, including Spanish, Mexican and Jamaican. Starter plates are diverse and perfect for sharing. The Country Paella - saffron rice with imported chorizo, chicken, shellfish and vegetables - stands out in a menu of meats, fishes and pastas. An adjacent brewery serves award-winning micro-brews. Visit on the weekend for live acoustic music in its pub. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Old-fashioned ice cream parlor |
1347 Main St Napa Valley, CA 94574 United States +1 707 963 3332 http://www.napavalley.com/gails/ |
This famous establishment in Saint Helena is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor and cafe with lots of old soda signs and 1950s memorabilia on the walls. It contains a full espresso bar, a scrumptious candy store and a variety of antiquities. The chocolate fudge here is legendary, as are the store's excellent coffees and teas. An array of wines and beers are available and the breakfast and lunch deals cannot be beat. The store even sells back issues of Life Magazine! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Ideal for wine lovers |
6795 Washington St Washington Square Napa Valley, CA 94599 United States +1 707 944 8686 http://www.napavalleygrille.com/ |
The restaurant is famous for its award-winning wine list that only features the best of the Wine Country, including many rare and older vintages. Dine alfresco on a floral-lined patio or admire the view from inside. The decor is a bit stiff, but the strict neutral colors are softened with the abundant presence of florals. The ambiance, however, is romantic and chic enough to bring clients. The menu focuses on flavor, where it is in pastas and risottos, or exotic meats like boar and ostrich. The menu changes regularly to take advantage of fresh, seasonal ingredients. For lighter fare, enjoy small plates offered at the bar. Stop in on Thursday night for Sliders Night when a special slider-beer combination is offered. Located directly off of Highway 29, it's an easy find for both locals and tourists. Stage it on!! |
1030 Main Street Napa Valley, CA United States +1 707 226 7372 http://www.nvoh.org/ |
Restored in 2003, this magnificent Opera house never knew it would live to see its good old days again. But now, its fate has reversed and restored it stands. With a whole bunch of activities happening in this beautiful place, the ones to look out for would be the play 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change'; there is also the Indigo Girls' performance that should not be missed, but the highlight should be 'Elevation 63', which features acrobats from the ages of eight to 21 - this play has a creative outburst that is innovative and compelling. But for those who love their funny bone tickled, do not miss the stand-up comedy competition, or better yet compete in it. Making a fool of yourself could not be more fun. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Overlooking the south golf course, the Royal Oak is one of three restaurants at the Silverado Resort. Massive beams, floor-to-ceiling picture windows and plush upholstered chairs create an elegantly relaxed ambiance. The tables allow ample legroom and private conversation. Dressy casual attire is appropriate and the service is sublime. Menu items are prepared using local produce, herbs, meats and poultry. Try the Mesquite-grilled Pork Tenderloin, Yakitori-style and the farm-raised Muscovy Duck Breast. The sinfully delicious desserts include a Creme Brulee Duet (praline and vanilla bean) and White Chocolate & Croissant Bread Pudding. There is a full bar and extensive local wine list. The slogan here is "Great Friends, Great Food, Great Fun!" The tapas menu include traditional Meditteranean, Portuguese and Spanish recipes, recreated with Central and South American flavors. The décor is a mélange of local and international art, and if you look up, the Mexican tin ceiling adds the perfect finishing touch. The dining experience is a true celebration of food, wine, and art set to vibrant Latin music. All ingredients are fresh, seasonal, organic, and locally grown. The wine list is eclectic and complements the tapas. ZuZu creates a special brand of tapas that are distinctly Californian in approach and execution. Review © 2007, Wcities |
