Classic Neopolitan cuisine and soirees |
18 Via Santa Maria la Nova Naples 80134 Italy +39 81 551 9018 |
The small entrance to this restaurant is lit up in green and can be found on the left hand side of the small but enchanting Piazza S.Maria la Nova. The restaurant is also accessible by car, although parking in either Piazza Matteotti or in Via Medina is advisable. The decor adheres to Neopolitan traditions and although small, the restaurant is simply yet elegantly furnished and has a cosy, friendly atmosphere. The frequent musical soirees, typically Neopolitan in nature, are particularly pleasant. Food is prepared to traditional Neopolitan recipes and always with carefully selected ingredients and choice garnishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Intimate restaurant, centrally located. |
Piazza Dante Naples 80134 Italy +39 81 549 9372 |
The central location of this restaurant makes it easily accessible either by car (preferably in the evening) or by public transport. This air conditioned restaurant offers a very nice, intimate atmosphere, benefiting from the opaqueness and colouring of the glass doors the look out onto the street. Although the internal capacity is quite sufficient,, this increases in the summer months, thanks to the outside patio, surrounded by evergreen plants and protected by a retractable awning. The cuisine is typically Neopolitan, with dishes based on meat, fish and cheese. Among house specialities are Starters '53 style,' cheese scarpariello and veal escalope '53 style.' In historic town centre |
18 Via Port'Alba Naples 80134 Italy +39 81 45 9713 |
Established in 1738 it is certainly the oldest pizzeria-tavern in Naples. It began as a snack stall for pedlers, and 100 years later, in 1830, became a proper pizzeria-tavern with seating. It has since been modernised and made bigger, but without losing its traditional atmosphere. The menu consists of a large selection of mouthwatering pizzas and dishes typical of the old Neapolitan tradition. The Linguine alla Luciana and Linguine alla Santa Lucia are a must. Neapolitan pizzas |
3 Via Cesare Sersale angolo Via P. Colletta Naples, Naples 80100 Italy +39 81 553 9204 |
Da Michele is not hard to find. And when the pizza is 'DOC' marked (stamp of approval), the quest for the place becomes all the more intense. The aroma of freshly baked Neapolitan pizzas lingers around in the air, welcoming patrons and stopover travelers. Michele's secret is that he uses traditional methods to prepare his world famous pizzas. A visit to Naples is surely incomplete without a trip to Da Michele. Just make sure your wallet is in place. Literary cafe |
Piazza Bellini 70 Naples, Naples 80138 Italy +39 (0)81 29 0988 |
In Naples, each street has a story to tell and everything seems to happen in its narrow lanes. To know the streets of Naples is to know Naples. This bookstore cafe features art, music and books, along with Greco-Roman ruins that are lined in the piazza. The tables are spread across the veranda, where people can sit, eat, drink coffee, relax, read, and discuss. The cafe has a sister concern—a publishing firm just a few meters away from the cafe. Elegant and very popular |
34 Piazza Garibaldi Naples 80142 Italy +39 81 26 4730 |
The restaurant is situated on the central Piazza Garibaldi, next to the hotel by the same name. The 'Cavour' is without doubt one of the best restaurants in the area. It is elegant and tastefully decorated, with a lot of attention to detail. It consists of several medium-sized rooms, which are all air-conditioned. They contain tables and armchairs in classical style, which are both beautiful and comfortable. The ambience is quiet and friendly - ideal for both working lunches and intimate dinners. The cuisine is international, but with particular emphasis on typical Parthenopean specialities. The chef is extremely competent, and the ingredients used are always of the highest quality. Open-air trattoria/pizzeria/bar |
26 Piazza Del Gesù Nuovo Naples 80134 Italy +39 81 551 8427 |
The restaurant is on the picturesque Piazza del Gesù Nuovo. It makes a pleasant place stop-off point for tourists and people working nearby. Upon entry, you will encounter the bar, through which you have to walk in order to get to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is medium-sized, and the decor is functional, in the manner characteristic of a trattoria. There are tables outside which are sheltered by an ample gazebo which is available for use both in summer and winter. From here, you can take in a view of the entire piazza. The menu is limited to a small selection of courses which vary from day to day. This means that the prices of dishes are fairly low. The food consists of various national and traditionally Neopolitan dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The restaurant is situated near the Piazza Carità, in the city centre. It is well served by public transport, especially the metro (Montesanto station is a stone's throw away). Upon entering the first room, you will notice the wooden stove which is in full view. The second room is slightly larger than the first. Both rooms are well air-conditioned and pleasantly decorated. The finishing touches and flooring are in brickwork and the walls are white. The pizzas here are excellent and have been awarded the title 'True Pizza' by the association of the same name. Renowned, folkloristic pizzeria |
94 Via Tribunali Naples 80138 Italy +39 81 45 5262 |
Founded in 1936, this pizzeria is definitely one of the most folkloristic and photogenic in the whole of Naples. In fact, due to its location in the heart of the historic city center, it has come to represent the archetypal Neopolitan pizzeria which has become the subject of many documentaries and films. One of these was 'Maccaroni' by Jack Lemon and Marcello Mastroianni. Obviously, pizzas are the specialty here. They are prepared according to all the traditional recipes but you can also get delicious, personalized variations, prepared for you by the resident pizza chef. Review © 2007, Wcities |

It has a small room as soon as you enter, and also an intermediate floor which is very cozy. Both floors are well-lit with typically Chinese lanterns. The menu is very rich and offers typical Chinese dishes from Shanghai, prepared by very professional cooks. At lunch time there are certain set menus on offer at an average price including drinks. Friendly restaurant steeped in tradition |
9 Via Campo Dei Fiori Naples 80133 Italy +39 81 552 1323 |
This restaurant which has been handed down through four generations, is characterized by its cheery atmosphere, reminiscent of a Parisian bistro. The presence of an 'oyster bank' where you can get extremely fresh seafood at weekends adds to this similarity. The restaurant is located behind the central Piazza della Borsa. The cuisine is typically Neopolitan. The fish dishes, the pasta with 'Spollichini' (a variety of bean), the lentil and bitter vegetable, pea and chick pea soups are all delicious. The pizzas (also offered as a starter) are excellent. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Small, welcoming restaurant |
Via S. Anna de Lombardi Naples 80134 Italy +39 81 551 7158 |
The restaurant stands on the road and so is clearly visible when walking along the upper part of via S. Anna dei Lombardi. During the day at least it is preferable to reach it on foot, since the area around is heavily trafficked and there is a shortage of car parking available. This little family run restaurant offers a fairly large dining area, decorated in a rustic style. The cuisine is principally Neopolitan. There is a lunchtime 'tourist menu', which offers a choice of three starters, several main courses and a selection of side dishes. There is a full menu for evening meals. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The seating area is very comfortable, given that there is a lot of space between each table. The cuisine is typically Neopolitan, with a wide range of starters and fish, meat and vegetable dishes on offer. The first courses, prepared using fresh pasta, are a specialty.
