The Ghost of Christmas Present would approve |
Various venues Nashville, TN 37064 United States +1 615 595 1239 http://www.historicfranklin.com |
Dickens' classic tale, "A Christmas Carol," is alive and well in Tennessee. Downtown Franklin, rich with 19th-century architecture and cobblestone streets, is a ready-made backdrop. The details are what make the feeling of time travel possible: women in tier-hooped skirts; men in top hats; reveling carolers; horse-drawn carriages; the aromas of roasted chestnuts, mulled cider, popcorn, gingerbread and plum pudding. If that is not enough to convince you that Christmas past is present, hearing "Bah! Humbug!" from Scrooge will make you smile with certainty. Admission is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |
