Each June, 20,000 pilgrims travel to the Music City to worship their country music idols. Fans literally rub shoulders with stars during a whirlwind of events. Big names like Alan Jackson, Vince Gil, and Trisha Yearwood always show up. Tickets go on sale in February. This stadium has the capacity to seat up to 10,000 spectators and it plays host to the Pacific Coast League and Southern League baseball games. Home of the Vanderbilt Commodores basketball team, this venue can seat up to 14,000 spectators. It was dedicated as a memorial in honor of the heroes of World War II. The structure combines a gymnasium and a concert hall designed by architect Edwin Keeble. A $25 million renovation project added a new practice gym, a three cross-court playing floor, coaching offices, donor room, a Hall of Champions, private suites, and a new lighting and sound system. Attendance is consistently near capacity in downtown Greer Stadium and every seat is a good one. A note for baseball fans: Don Mattingly spent some time in Nashville as a Sound. The TACA Fall Crafts Fair is a fantastic outdoor event that showcases and sells the work of American fine craft artists. Having started in 1978, this annual event attracts more than 45 000 people to Centennial Park to view works by almost 200 of the finest craftspeople from across the nation. This craft fair is a key event at Nashville's Centennial Park, held the last weekend in September. TACA's Fall Fair offers shoppers the opportunity to meet and talk with exhibiting artists, eat and drink from an international food court, enjoy live music and children's activities. Held every year since 1972, the TACA Spring Craft Fair features among the Southeast Tourism Society's top 20 events in Nashville. The event offers Tennessee craftspeople a platform to showcase their talents. A wide variety of artworks — handicrafts, paintings, jewelry, photography, weaving and more — are put on display at the Centennial Park. After browsing you can drink and eat to your heart's content from the concession stands, and listen to the live music. Admission is free.
