Blues comes to the office |
818 3rd Avenue South Nashville, TN 37210 United States +1 615 259 9891 http://www.3rdandlindsley.com/ |
The most authentic blues bar this side of Chicago is located in the 3rd Avenue office complex and strip mall. Wednesday night's feature house band, The Wooten Brothers, comprised of the insanely talented Victor Wooten (of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) and his two brothers. The live music has another added benefit. Lines at the bar are very short, as everyone is near the stage listening to the tunes! Food is typical bar fare but still quite good. The burgers are excellent. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Oh sure, you'll find a pool table and a few dart boards here. You can even find a lonely table in the corner to read, meditate or contemplate the meaning of life. But here at the Beer Sellar it's all about nature's perfect nectar. Happy hour lasts all day on Sunday (two for one), and 3pm until 7pm weekdays (discounted pints). The Sellar serves up a solid fare of sandwiches and chips. Review © 2007, Wcities |

With eight different brews in its vats at all times, Big River is sure to have a flavor and body to suit your taste. This is a great choice for casual dining with a group of friends. This is one of the few places where the thirty-somethings outnumber the kids. The food here is not spectacular, but the pizzas do merit some praise. These are the build-your-own variety with ample amounts of vegetables, meats and cheeses, and your choice of crust. The real draw is the beer. All varieties are brewed on-site and include something for everyone—lager, ale, pilsner, stout, pale— you name it, they brew it. Review © 2007, Wcities |

If you normally shy away from brew pubs because the food takes a back seat to the beer, welcome to the exception to that rule. Bosco's turns out some of the finest food in Nashville, as well as an extensive selection of beers brewed onsite. The Brewmaster's Dinner is a sampling of different entrees prepared exclusively by Bosco's master chef, and each is served with a different brew. A visit here is like an education in food and beverage pairing, and it's a lot of fun. The menu is filled with bistro-style food, pleasantly presented with care by chef Raoul Tallion. This two-story sports bar is a favorite among fans of all sports and sports teams. More televisions than you can count show football, baseball, NCAA March Madness, NASCAR and more. If you can pull your eyes away from the screen long enough, you can feast on some of the best burgers and fries around. The bar offers imported and domestic beers on tap and in bottles. Pool tables on the first floor provide recreation for those not so impressed with the events currently being broadcast. The patio provides a spot for moderately quiet conversation with friends. Don't worry, there's a television out there too, so you won't miss any of the action. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Broadway Brewhouse & Mojo is Louisiana Cajun style cooking in a casual environment, served up with the largest selection of beer in town. Making this establishment a popular nightspot. The Westgate Commons shopping area is getting very crowded these days. There are a dozen or more restaurants competing for your business. The fun atmosphere and delicious food offered at this Mexican restaurant set it apart from the other contenders. You are virtually guaranteed a great meal and a great time every time you stop by. Let's start with the menu. This is traditional Mexican food (enchiladas, tamales, burritos, etc.) served American style. Classic American Diner |
38 White Bridge Rd Nashville, TN 37205 United States +1 615 352 8121 |
Sometimes forgotten amidst the mass of other eateries near Lion's Head Cinema, this classic American diner made a name for itself with simple, elegant food and outstanding service. Malts, shakes and burgers are standard fare here, but they are far from ordinary; they are made with real milk and are thick and creamy; burgers are enormous and come dressed with everything from mushrooms and Swiss cheese to slices of smoked turkey. The best selection on the menu is the chicken salad quesadilla, but the eclectic menu has something for everyone. A visit here is not complete without the chocolate malt pie. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Alternative music hall and bar |
2219 Elliston Place Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 321 4457 |
Located in the middle of the Elliston "Rock Block," this unassuming nightspot provides alternative music lovers a place to see their favorite local artists. The room is small, but the stage is always rocking with the latest of Nashville's aspiring rock stars. In the bar, the quietest spot in the club, you can carry on a conversation, but you don't come to The End to talk. You come here to dance, listen to great live music and see who else actually found a parking space in this busy district. Parking is a problem, so the big lot near Vanderbilt University across the street is your best bet. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Much like F. Scott Fitzgerald himself, this restaurant is elegant and cool. Featuring live jazz nightly and several intimate dining rooms, F. Scott's offers patrons an exciting alternative to the average bar and restaurant. Peppercorn Seared Tuna is a house favorite, and the Roasted Monkfish is served with a wonderful corn chowder. Legendary country music beer bar |
1010 16th Ave South Nashville, TN 37212 United States +1 615 726 0446 |
Country Music stars Travis Tritt and Lorrie Morgan have visited this tavern, along with Lee Roy Purnell and David Lee Murphy. What brings them here? Tradition. For decades Dianne and Bobby Herald have hosted up-and-coming artists in what they call "a little old beer bar." Sure, they serve beer, but they also serve some of the best live country music in Nashville. Top artists still come by to perform for the packed house, and they usually stick around to toss back a cold one. Domestic beer is cheap enough at $1.75, and chips and pizza are served all night. Back in 1942 this was Nashville's only billiards parlor. The hall underwent a massive renovation to restore its 40s decor. New Brunswick tables, 12 in all, provide ample playing space for beginners and sharks alike. If running the table makes you hungry, try the best red beans and rice this side of New Orleans. A friendly barkeep nicknamed Peanut spends his days serving short-order treats and domestic beer. His cafe is something of a local legend, and consistently ranks high among Nashville's favorite hangouts. The food is pretty standard: burgers, sandwiches, chips and dip. Don't let the name fool you, you can't buy buckles or boots here, but you certainly should wear them when you come, and a good-looking Stetson hat wouldn't hurt either. This is a Nashville dance-club legend and its popularity has revitalized the entire Broadway area of town. Drinking is serious business |

This is a bar, plain and simple. However, the crowd sets it apart. You'll never have so much fun in a bar as you will here. Some of the regulars, a right friendly bunch, have been coming here for decades, and they tell stories all night long, most of them true. Video games, pool tables and shuffleboard offer a little sporting activity. Order your favorite domestic beer as ordering an import will earn you a strange look from the bartender and sit back to enjoy the storytelling. Yuppies and college students stay east of this place, and it isn't the best place for dates or business meetings, but it's a great place for regular folks to enjoy a tall tale and a tall drink. Unlike many downtown music venues, this intimate music hall has character and atmosphere. Tall windows line the wood-paneled walls and actually do overlook the Cumberland River. The narrow room features a small stage and a small balcony. The tables are normally pushed to the walls to make room for dancing, and there's plenty of reason to dance. A local band kicks off the show every night at five with an "unplugged" set, followed by the nightly headliner.
