111 Broadway Nashville, TN 37201 United States +1 615 251 4677 http://www.gordonbiersch.com/ |
With eight different brews in its vats at all times, Big River is sure to have a flavor and body to suit your taste. From the light Sweet Magnolia to the stout and hearty Iron Horse Dark, you will find micro-brewed nirvana in downtown Nashville. Pints are $3-5, depending on the brew. Should you get hungry from lifting all those mugs, there is a complete lunch and dinner menu. Entrees range from simple burgers and sandwiches to thick and juicy Drunken Rib-eye ($10.95), a 12-ounce rib-eye marinated in beer and served with veggies and baked potato. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Authentic brew pub |
1918 West End Avenue Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 327 9969 http://www.blackstonebrewery.com |
This is a great choice for casual dining with a group of friends. This is one of the few places where the thirty-somethings outnumber the kids. The food here is not spectacular, but the pizzas do merit some praise. These are the build-your-own variety with ample amounts of vegetables, meats and cheeses, and your choice of crust. The real draw is the beer. All varieties are brewed on-site and include something for everyone—lager, ale, pilsner, stout, pale— you name it, they brew it. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Home brew and home cooking |
1805 21st Avenue South (At Belcourt) Nashville, TN 37212 United States +1 615 385 0050 http://www.boscosbeer.com |
If you normally shy away from brew pubs because the food takes a back seat to the beer, welcome to the exception to that rule. Bosco's turns out some of the finest food in Nashville, as well as an extensive selection of beers brewed onsite. The Brewmaster's Dinner is a sampling of different entrees prepared exclusively by Bosco's master chef, and each is served with a different brew. A visit here is like an education in food and beverage pairing, and it's a lot of fun. The menu is filled with bistro-style food, pleasantly presented with care by chef Raoul Tallion. Check website for calendar of events. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Romantic Tapas restaurant and bar |
911 20th Avenue South Nashville, TN 37212 United States +1 615 321 3043 http://pansouth.net/boundry-ma... |
This is no ordinary Tapas restaurant; the Bound'ry infuses life into food. It is famous for its unique presentation of Flapjacks—tiny pancakes topped with sauteed lobster, roasted pistachios, apples and Indian spices. The menu changes frequently, but standby favorites include Ostrich, Paella, Cajun Veal Chops and Barbeque Chicken-Crawfish Manicotti. The kitchen isn't the only star here. The bar is a premier spot for gathering with old friends or making new ones. The extensive beer selection includes foreign, domestic and micro-brewed beers and fine wines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sports and Beer |
2221 Bandywood Dr Nashville, TN 37215 United States +1 615 383 8018 |
This two-story sports bar is a favorite among fans of all sports and sports teams. More televisions than you can count show football, baseball, NCAA March Madness, NASCAR and more. If you can pull your eyes away from the screen long enough, you can feast on some of the best burgers and fries around. The bar offers imported and domestic beers on tap and in bottles. Pool tables on the first floor provide recreation for those not so impressed with the events currently being broadcast. The patio provides a spot for moderately quiet conversation with friends. Don't worry, there's a television out there too, so you won't miss any of the action. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Broadway Brewhouse & Mojo is Louisiana Cajun style cooking in a casual environment, served up with the largest selection of beer in town. Making this establishment a popular nightspot. Jambalaya and gumbo are never short on heat and are always chock full of crawfish, unlike some of the other so-called Cajun eateries around town. Lovers of Southwestern food will be thrilled to find tortilla dishes loaded with rice and beans, rich sauces and hearty spices. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Unique Restaurant and Music Hall |
1143 Columbia Avenue Nashville, TN 37064 United States +1 615 794 4777 http://www.bunganutpig.com/ |
Nestled in the quiet setting of Carter's Court, this cozy pub serves classic British "pub grub" and features live music nightly. A warm and friendly wait staff and pleasant atmosphere create a perfect setting to relax over a stout and a juicy steak. But don't get too relaxed, the music starts at 8pm each night, and there is very little quiet time after that. Come early, and enjoy a good meal. Don't forget to ask your server to tell you the "Pig Story." Review © 2007, Wcities |

Alternative music hall and bar |
2219 Elliston Place Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 321 4457 |
Located in the middle of the Elliston "Rock Block," this unassuming nightspot provides alternative music lovers a place to see their favorite local artists. The room is small, but the stage is always rocking with the latest of Nashville's aspiring rock stars. In the bar, the quietest spot in the club, you can carry on a conversation, but you don't come to The End to talk. You come here to dance, listen to great live music and see who else actually found a parking space in this busy district. Parking is a problem, so the big lot near Vanderbilt University across the street is your best bet. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lilting Lyrix |
94, Peabody Street Nashville, TN 37210 United States +1 615 734 6426 http://www.lyrixcafe.com/ |
Lyrix is one of the most coziest bars one will find near Broadway. This family owned and operated bar offers lilting country music, a warm cozy ambiance and scrumptious food. What makes this bar special is the platform it provides to songwriters who entertain guests nightly Mondays thru Thursdays. Overall this bar is not only affordable but also promises a lovely view, foot-tapping music and delicious food, which more than make up for the limited seating. To relax and enjoy saunter in, Lyrix has a song for you. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Entertainment With A Drink |
One Cannery Row Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 251 3020 http://www.mercylounge.com |
Located in the historic Cannery building, this lounge has an interesting past. It began its journey in 1863 as a flourmill and later became a coffee grinding shop. In 1957, the Dale Company took over the building and manufactured processed food items, such as jams, peanut butter and jelly. In the early 1970s, a restaurant and theater sprang up in the building. Famous artists, such as Jimmy Cliff, Iggy Pop, Lenny Kravitz and Robin Trouer have performed at this venue. The lounge has a seating capacity of 500 and an adjacent room that has pool tables and pinball machines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Soul food and soul music |
1114 Charlotte Ave Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 242 6650 |
The name may refer to things modern, but the location is anything but new. Located in the historic downtown district, this is a great venue for live jazz performances, which are featured each weekend. Wednesday night is comedy night, and Sunday offers a taste of the Music City's local country scene. When you get hungry and thirsty, try the real soul food and the domestic brews. Grand Irish Pub |
117 Second Avenue North Nashville, TN 37201 United States +1 615 242 8010 http://www.mulliganspubandrest... |
For over three decades, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and friendly service that typifies the Mulligan's experience. Order a beer at the bar and make your way to a booth or table. Try one of the kitchen's famous sandwiches and relax with friends. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but the Irish chili is something special. Wine, mixed drinks and Irish coffee are offered, and of course pints of your favorite ale. Happy hour is from 3p-6p. Casual hangout |
7695 River Rd Pike Nashville, TN 37209 United States +1 615 356 6314 |
A friendly barkeep nicknamed Peanut spends his days serving short-order treats and domestic beer. His cafe is something of a local legend, and consistently ranks high among Nashville's favorite hangouts. The food is pretty standard: burgers, sandwiches, chips and dip. However, it's surprisingly good, served with a smile and gripping conversation from Peanut himself. The casual atmosphere is perfect for meeting friends and swapping stories about your day. Don't plan on staying late, though, Peanut closes shop at 9pm. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Friendly bar near Centennial Park |
115 27th Avenue North Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 320 0345 http://www.springwatersuppercl... |
Possibly the city's oldest watering hole, this little bar has been here so long that the current owner does not even know when it was first built. Just be glad it was, because there's no place like it in town. Nothing fancy about the interior, which consists of a large room with a good stage and bar. The crowd is interesting most nights, but not nearly as interesting as the music. Bands, from country to punk rock, take the stage every weekend. There is never a cover charge and never a dull moment here. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Country music tradition |
422 Broadway Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 726 0463 http://www.tootsies.net |
Long ago, when country music superstars were performing at the Grand Ole Opry, this lounge became famous for featuring those stars when the "big show" was over. Fans still come here to see top-name performers and local artists alike, and the atmosphere hasn't changed a bit. The stage is small, but the sound is still huge and country music lovers still ring up enormous bar tabs, just like in the old days. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Drinking is serious business |
413 Thompson Lane Nashville, TN 37211 United States +1 615 832 3167 |
This is a bar, plain and simple. However, the crowd sets it apart. You'll never have so much fun in a bar as you will here. Some of the regulars, a right friendly bunch, have been coming here for decades, and they tell stories all night long, most of them true. Video games, pool tables and shuffleboard offer a little sporting activity. Order your favorite domestic beer as ordering an import will earn you a strange look from the bartender and sit back to enjoy the storytelling. Yuppies and college students stay east of this place, and it isn't the best place for dates or business meetings, but it's a great place for regular folks to enjoy a tall tale and a tall drink. Eclectic music and more |
112 Second Avenue North Nashville, TN 37201 United States +1 615 251 0097 http://www.windowsonthecumberl... |
Unlike many downtown music venues, this intimate music hall has character and atmosphere. Tall windows line the wood-paneled walls and actually do overlook the Cumberland River. The narrow room features a small stage and a small balcony. The tables are normally pushed to the walls to make room for dancing, and there's plenty of reason to dance. A local band kicks off the show every night at five with an "unplugged" set, followed by the nightly headliner. Saturday night is old-time country night and Sundays feature the sounds of the islands with reggae bands. Come in and enjoy a brew, listen to some tunes and dance the night away. No cover charge.
