Gourmet Bagels and More... |
422 21st Ave (at Scarritt Place) Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 327 0055 http://www.alpinebagels.com/ |
This is a fun place to eat breakfast or lunch. Portraits of great artists like Van Gough and rock musician Jerry Garcia hang on the walls. Top your bagel with roast beef, ham, bacon and tomato spread and you have a "Hoss Cartwright." It's just one of the signature bagels offered here. The most popular offering is the spinach Parmesan bagel with artichoke-parmesan cream cheese. The "Pedro Gonzales," with turkey, green chilies and jalapeno spread, makes a real impression on the taste buds. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Italian Food that Breaks the Rules |
1920 West End Avenue (at 20th Avenue North) Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 320 1740 http://www.amerigo.net/ |
It's rare that an Italian restaurant is not romantic. Yet this one breaks the rules and caters to families rather than young lovers. Plentiful portions of pasta—Angel Hair, Fettuccine, Penne, Linguini—are served with creamy Alfredo, Pesto or hearty Marinara Sauces. Thin crust pizzas are topped with creative selections like Gouda cheese, spinach and smoked chicken. The veal is delicious and all entrees are served with fresh baked bread and Caesar Salad. There's a limited wine list, and the bar serves mixed drinks and beer. Call for Sunday timings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Romantic Tapas restaurant and bar |
911 20th Avenue South Nashville, TN 37212 United States +1 615 321 3043 http://pansouth.net/boundry-ma... |
This is no ordinary Tapas restaurant; the Bound'ry infuses life into food. It is famous for its unique presentation of Flapjacks—tiny pancakes topped with sauteed lobster, roasted pistachios, apples and Indian spices. The menu changes frequently, but standby favorites include Ostrich, Paella, Cajun Veal Chops and Barbeque Chicken-Crawfish Manicotti. The kitchen isn't the only star here. The bar is a premier spot for gathering with old friends or making new ones. The extensive beer selection includes foreign, domestic and micro-brewed beers and fine wines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

New Orleans Dining in Downtown Nashville |
1721, Church Street Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615-322-9932 http://www.chappys.com |
After the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Chappy's Seafood Restaurant relocated to downtown Nashville and reopened as Chappy's on Church. This authentic New Orleans restaurant features live jazz music, an outstanding menu of Cajun and Creole delights and an atmosphere of beautiful stained glass and fine art. Rather than side booths, Chappy's includes a number of individual enclaves for private seating, which enable guests to hear the music and also enjoy dinner-table conversation. The food and service are both fabulous and the desserts are decadent-mile-high and delicious-especially the C'est Magnifique coconut cake. You might need a take-home tray just for the dessert. -Lynn-nore Chittom Review © 2007, Wcities |

Big burgers, bigger taste! |
3001 Gallatin Pike Nashville, TN 37216 United States +1 615 228 6584 http://www.checkers.com/ |
This drive-thru restaurant serves the biggest, tastiest burgers this side of Birmingham. Thick, juicy ground beef is served on seeded buns with your choice of toppings. Hotdogs and chicken sandwiches offer a little variety, but the hands-down winner is the Checker Burger, an enormous beef patty on a huge bun. Wash down your burger with a thick, rich milkshake. On a warm day, you can almost hear these cool treats call your name. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Gourmet Burgers and More |
400 21st Ave S Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 327 0220 http://www.cheeseburgercharlie... |
Cheeseburgers seem like pretty simple fare, but this lively diner offers an interesting twist on the American classic. How about an all-beef patty grilled with mixed vegetables, or a black bean burger? What about a beefalo burger or a nice turkey burger? These are healthy alternatives, containing less than seven grams of fat per serving. Burger purists can still opt for the greasier variety of burger, and no one should pass up the fries. You can't be healthy all the time, can you? Review © 2007, Wcities |

Creative Pizza Designs |
1812 Hayes St Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 329 8098 http://www.davincisgourmetpizz... |
Pizza can be a work of art, especially when you have the right brush with which to paint. How about 30 different toppings to decorate the canvas? Pepperoni, oysters, basil, pesto, roasted chicken and artichoke hearts are all on your pallet. Want cheese on your pie? How about feta, Gouda, Swiss or cheddar? You'll need a canvas to paint on, and your masterpiece can be served on thick or thin crust, with pesto or tomato sauce. If you aren't in the mood to be creative, let the experts serve up one of their own creations. Non-dairy soy cheddar and mozzarella pizzas delight the health conscious, and the bleu cheese and spinach pizza is ideal for the adventurous pizza eater. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Old fashioned soda shop |
2111 Elliston Place Nashville, TN 37203-5203 United States +1 615 327 1090 |
Don't let the 'retro' décor at this diner fool you. The owner didn't redecorate to fit the current trend; he hasn't changed a thing since the shop opened in the 1950s. The great food and service that made this famous also remain the same. Burgers and shakes are the standard here, but you can also get a good 'meat-and-three' meal as well. While this Nashville landmark was made famous by the movie, "Sweet Dreams: The Patsy Cline Story" starring Jessica Lange, its popularity with downtown workers and Vanderbilt University students is attributed mainly to its casual atmosphere and delicious food. Long ago, during the days when alcohol was prohibited throughout the United States, there was a little known place to go in Nashville for some of the forbidden elixir. Old-timers fondly remember the succulent steaks and warm atmosphere of this homey Southern restaurant. You can still come here for a delicious steak today. Toss back a beer or two and relax while the white-gloved wait staff attends to your every need. Dine on the outdoor patio or the glassed-in porch when the temperature allows. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hibachi-style Japanese Steakhouse |
210 25th Ave N Nashville, TN 37203 United States +1 615 327 9081 |
The food here is delicious, but it takes a back seat to the flamboyance of the chefs who prepare it. Hibachi-style grills are the stage on which these culinary performers prepare your meal with daring and drama. The flying knives and spinning spatulas dazzle you, as your choice of steak, shrimp or chicken is cooked along with rice, vegetables and other goodies. This is a great place for casual business dining or a first date. It promises outstanding value, and an entertaining night out. Valet parking is complimentary. Review © 2007, Wcities |

You'll find an East Coast style delicatessen, authentic right down to the deli counter lined with Knishes, Pickled Herring, and Nova Lox (not to mention the bowl of pickles that comes gratis at every table). Smoked Fish platters, a bit expensive for breakfast at $10, are wonderful with bagels and cream cheese. The sandwiches are unique and pleasantly large. Each cost around $9. Pancake lovers will devour all the potato pancakes the chef can serve up, and eggs are served any style until 4pm. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic meat and three |

Traditions do not come easy in this town, but some things never change. Take the menu: it is a standard "meat and three", a term given to restaurants serving a meat entree and three vegetables. However, its delicious Southern-style cooking sets it apart from the other buffet offerings around town. Fresh baked cornbread and dinner rolls accompany every meal. If you are really adventurous, try a burger. It is tasty, but your arteries may never forgive you. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Delicious Japanese cuisine |

The motto here should be "Nashville's best kept sushi secret." It seems most people have never heard of this place, which is difficult to believe given the quality of food served here. Nevertheless, thanks to their oversight, you can always find a table in this little eatery. The sushi is very good, served in traditional and not-so-traditional varieties. A nod to Nashville is the Nashville Roll, which blends crab and smoked salmon with avocado. Those who don't like sushi will appreciate the chicken and beef teriyaki selections. Whether it's hot or cold outside, enjoy lunch on the huge outdoor patio. Heat lamps and cooling fans provide simple climate control. Order a bucket of your favorite beer, some queso and chips and get ready for a great afternoon with friends.
