The word Banjara, is the Indian word for "gypsy". The banjaras are a group of nomads from the deserts of Rajasthan, located in the Northwest region of India. What distinguishes this place from all the other Indian joints that line Sixth Street, is the Rajasthani decor and North Western cuisine. You can always make a special request to the chef to brew up some Indian dish you have always heard of but doesn't feature on the menu. For dessert you might want to opt for the Rasmalai—cheese dumplings soaked in flavored milk. So go ahead and enjoy your dining experience here. A forewarning though, parking here can be a real pain.
