This Midtown restaurant searches for the authentic tastes and textures of India, and it largely succeeds. The dishes tend to be well thought out instead of tired, safe choices. Like many Indian restaurants in the city, Bay Leaf offers a lunch buffet. Beer is a good accompaniment with much of the cuisine, and the restaurant also has a small wine list. While the atmosphere is unremarkable, the staff is friendly and the food affordable.
