Built in the mid-1600s, the Bowne House is the oldest building in Queens and the second oldest in New York City. It was owned by John Bowne, who presided over numerous Quaker meetings there in the early 1600s. The house remains in its original condition, and features Dutch and English architecture at its best. An educational tour of the house is offered, and it is part of the Flushing Freedom Mile. A picnic area is also available.
