Chelsea flea markets |
Sixth Avenue (between 24th and 25th streets) New York, NY 10011 |
Even though one of its lots has been lost to the construction of an apartment building and many of its vendors have moved to the Anex/Hells Kitchen markets, the Chelsea Flea Market remains lively and eclectic, attracting scores of well-heeled New Yorkers and tourists alike. Antique furniture, vintage jeans, furs, costume jewelry, linens, cameras, records and assorted what have you. Mingle with supermodels, hipsters and creative types. Every weekend, rain or shine, dealers from the tristate (that's New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) area converge in Chelsea to hawk their wares. Prices are steep by flea standards but be sure to haggle; if you come back at 5p chances are the dealer will give you a better price to avoid hauling the item back in his truck. Other Chelsea Flea market staples are African furniture and knick-knacks, Tibetan jewelry and art deco lamps. Review © 2009, Wcities |
