Former Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia saved this theater from destruction and opened its doors in 1943. It has been an ongoing success ever since then and many great shows have been played out on its stage. Since 1994 the City Centre stages Encores, providing a platform to America's most accomplished composers and lyricists.
