The Classic Stage Company, founded in 1967 and partnered with the Columbia University Theater, aims to reinvent classic theater pieces for a contemporary American audience. Their 180 seat location near Union Square is an intimate setting, and allows the audience to connect with the actors. The Classic Stage Company has received many awards for their reinterpreted classics, and continues to pave the way in off-Broadway trend setting.
