The Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum collects and exhibits anything and everything to do with whaling and its history. Whaling was once a major industry and over 6000 documents trace the history of whaling to Long Island. The museum's collection includes documents, whaling and ship gear, ship models, maritime art and navigational aids. The library has close to 2800 valuable books.
