Empanadas are one of those types of food that have always had an identity crisis. With the establishment of the Empanada Mama, things just got worse. The Cuban, Italian and American empanadas cover your basic meat groups (ham, pork, sausages). Then come the fruit and veggies with the Hawaiian, Greek and Polish empanadas (spinach, kielbasa, sauerkraut, pineapple). The masquerade ball isn't over yet. There's still the Elvis (deep fried, with peanut butter and mashed banana) and the Viagra, which has loads of seafood and surprisingly, no Viagra. These are just a quarter of the 40 odd varieties they serve. Plus daily specials and alcohol to boot. There are two places you wouldn't want to yell out the wrong name, Empanada Mama is one of them.
