During the week of Memorial Day, the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum hosts military displays at the location of this floating World War II naval carrier at Pier 86. Fleet Week commences with a Parade of Ships along the Hudson. On subsequent days, various military branches demonstrate search-and-rescue techniques and sky-diving operations. There are tugs of war, arm wrestling and "chow" cooking contests. Some military vessels offer free tours. Most events require an admission charge to the Intrepid.
