This cozy little Italian eatery serves inexpensive, authentic food to a crowd of appreciative locals. Try rich, indulgent Italian favorites like homemade ravioli, veal ragu, meatloaf and gnocchi. Everything is good and nothing will put a dent in your wallet. Max is refreshingly homey for the East Village, with friendly and efficient waiters, simple decor and a charming backyard garden. The dining room is fairly small, and no reservations are accepted.
