A slick and trendy faux diner, Mayrose serves dressed-up comfort classics like chili and Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The pork chops and meatloaf are also tasty. The crowd is mostly local hipsters and artists who hanker for a taste of Middle America without actually having to leave downtown Manhattan. It is also a good spot for breakfast and brunch, and the prices are some of the best in the neighborhood. You might have to wait for a table, but there is also counter seating available.
