Mikimoto is a famous name in cultured pearls and the company's premier American store is here on Fifth Avenue. The pearls, grown in favored akoya oysters, are noted for their luster, beauty and durability. The "Akoya Necklace," was given to Marilyn Monroe by Joe DiMaggio on their honeymoon and was recently reacquired by the company as a prototype for a new line.
