Remodeled in the Victorian Gothic style by Calvert Vaux and opened in 1898, the National Arts Club supports American artists and has several galleries open to the public. Its members have included many famous painters, sculptors, musicians and writers, and the adjacent building houses studios. The building is a National Historic landmark and the art collection is intense, going beyond the hanging works to the actual workmanship in the glass and ceiling fixtures.
