This structure is termed as the 'oldest exponent of fine arts and entertainment' in New Jersey. Set up in 1925, it was initially called the Salaam Temple and was renamed Newark Symphony Hall towards the late 70s. The exterior of the building is laced with huge imposing columns, whereas the interior is designed in Egyptian and Greek styles. Luciano Pavarotti, Sarah Vaughan, Marian Anderson, Lily Pons, the Boston and Cleveland Symphony Orchestras, and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo have performed at this venue. It has a 2,800-seater hall, a 1,000-seater Terrace Ballroom, a 200-seater box theater and a dance studio. Review © 2009, Wcities |
