The oldest club for artists in the US, the Salmagundi Club was founded in 1871 to promote the advancement of artists and the arts in New York. Constructed in 1853, the building in a New York City landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Past members include Stanford White, N.C. Wyeth, Childe Hassam and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Open to the public, the club offers exhibits, lectures and classes. Admission to the gallery is free.
