This gem of a Japanese supermarket is easy to miss because it's located on the second story of the Astor Place Books building in the East Village, but don't pass it up. The Sunrise Mart has everything from Hello Kitty products to Japanese toothpaste, soaps, and shampoos to a mind-boggling array of foods. You can purchase dishwarew here too, as well as fresh foods that require refrigeration. This is a place where you can easily lose track of time while browsing, and the staff at the Sunrise Mart is friendly and helpful. The Hello Kitty potato chips are priceless. Review © 2009, Wcities |
