Latin jazz and seafood |
64 City Island Avenue (At Horton Street) New York, NY 10464 +1 718 885 3200 |
This restaurant was opened in 1995 by the late, great mambo and salsa king Tito Puente. His dream was to celebrate his two great loves-seafood and Latin jazz; it has been a popular spot ever since. In the bar area, conga drums are used as chairs, elsewhere, wicker seats make do. Murals of Latin stars and memorabilia adorn the walls. Live bands are on the scene every Friday and Saturday evening. Seafood soup, Paella, Mofongo and Octapuente (squid with saffron rice) are popular dishes. There is a full bar and a children's menu. Review © 2009, Wcities |
