There is art beyond the paintings displayed in huge galleries, movies outside the sphere of blockbuster money-makers and plays that don't end up on Broadway. When art takes a chance, ventures into potentially dangerous territory for the sake of discovery and truth, the idea of value based on popularity suddenly becomes ridiculous.
