Whitney Biennial

Contemporary American Art exhibition

Every two years, since 1932, the Whitney Museum has hosted arguably the most important modern art event in the city. It features new works by American artists, as well as those by contemporary international favorites of the art world. This exhibition covers every medium from painting and sculpture to film and Internet art. The competition for a spot on the roster is fierce, as only around 200 pieces may be exhibited (and a good showing can help make an artist's career). Occurring during even-numbered years, the show runs from late March to early June. Tickets are available on the Web site or at the museum.
