Catwalk adventures behind the falls |
Exit 141 off I-25 Niagara Falls, NY 14303 Canada +1 716 278 1730 |
Short of going over the falls in a barrel, there are fewer places closer to the action than this series of walkways beneath Bridal Veil Falls. Located on Goat Island, this was once a cave but water erosion has made it too dangerous to explore. An elevator takes visitors to the base of the American Falls where wooden stairs and pathways bring them within 25 feet of the falls. You're advised to wear the raincoat and foot coverings as splashings are frequent. There is also a walk called the Gorge Trip with an incredible view. Review © 2007, Wcities |

It all began 12,000 years ago when a huge trench was carved to create this spectacular natural wonder. At the time, the Falls were about 7 miles down river in the Lewiston-Queenston area. In their present position, the Horseshoe Falls (170 feet high and 2,500 feet wide) on the Canadian side and the American Bridal Veil Falls (180 feet tall and 1,100 feet wide) are eroding at the rate of about 6 feet each year. Together, they pour about 200,000 cubic feet of water every second over the brink. Review © 2007, Wcities |

5200 Robinson St (At Murray Hill) Niagara Falls, ON L2G 2A3 Canada +1 905 356 2651 / +1 800 746 8860 http://www.skylon.com/ |
Towering 775 feet above the Falls, this tower is so high and close to the border, it needed special permission from both Canadian and U.S. authorities to be built. It has three glass-encased elevators that bring you to a top-floor observation deck, two restaurants; the Revolving Dining Room and the Summit Suite Dining Room; a shopping center and a large amusement arcade. You can see up to 80 miles from the observation deck. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This is the reward for all the times your parents punished you for playing in the tub. Waves is a one of a kind indoor water park in the city that loves water. A retractable roof covers the 25,000 square foot water park which includes body slides of all sizes, a beach entry wave pool, interactive play structures and an arcade. If you think this place is only for toddlers, think again. Waves also has a 16 person hot spa and a full service food and bar service to satiate the appetite that's bound to be worked up! Designed by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo in 1913 and opened in 1916, tWhirlpool Aero Car offers a fantastic view of Niagara's Whirlpool, the Gorge, and the Falls about 3 kilometres to the south of the Falls. The round trip, in a suspended 40-passenger car held by six steel cables, is about one kilometre and takes 10 minutes. The car has been modernized, with the latest update taking place in 1987. Located about 2.5 miles north of the Falls, this park offers a spectacular view of both the Giant Whirlpool on the Canadian side and the vicious rapids at the 90-degree bend in the Niagara River. The first is visible from the top of the Gorge; the other at the base following a 30-minute hike. The park's 109 acres feature biking trails, picnic tables, playground, fishing, and cross-country skiing in the winter. Other nearby state parks include Artpark, Fort Niagara State Park and Niagara Falls State Park. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Walking amid whitewater |

Located at the narrowest point of the Niagara River, a few kilometres north of the Falls, this adventure offers visitors a spectacular view of some of the wildest whitewater anywhere. You can walk along a boardwalk a few feet away from the swirling waters. You can even see the remains of the Great Gorge Scenic Railway, once used to ferry people around the Gorge and now being slowly destroyed by the waters. Review © 2007, Wcities |
