Located a west of Niagara-on-the-Lake in the Beamsville Bench, with some of the richest grape-growing soil in the region, this winery prides itself on capturing the taste of the land through the use of Old World vitis vinifera grapes. In operation since 1978, the winery is situated within an historic 1871 building featuring the oldest extant wine cellars in Ontario. It's also next door to the On the Twenty Restaurant, considered among the best in the region.

Owner and winemaker, Tom Chiappone is a wine chemist and encologist who makes 23 different varieties of wines. His most popular wine is his Niagara white, Knocking on Heaven's Door. Other whites include a Vidal Blanc and a Cayuga. He also makes several blush wines including April Love, a Pink Catawba. Reds include a sweet concord and Rougeon, a French-American hybrid. His "Lake Effect" is the first commercial ice wine made in Niagara County. Tom's family has been making wine for over 170 years.
