If the thunder of the Falls isn't enough to stir the soul, then this display of lighting legerdemain should definitely do the trick. Operating on the auspices of the Niagara Parks Commission, the nightly illumination features 21 xenon lights with 18 in the Illumination Tower near the Queen Victoria Park area, and three opposite the American Falls. How bright are these lights? One spotlight gives off 250 million candlepower! That's quite a step up from the first lights used in 1879 with an illuminating power of 32,000 candles. Built in 1937 to serve as the formal entrance to Queen Victoria Park, this amphitheatre combines natural flower and shrub elements with a fan-shaped pergola, Queenston limestone and ornamental gates to create a wonderful space for concerts and other events held throughout the year. The theatre, maintained by the Niagara Parks Commission, was once the site of the Clifton Hotel, and part of the hotel's foundation has been incorporated into its design. Nearby attractions include the Casino Niagara, Skylon Tower, and Maid of the Mist boat tour. Review © 2007, Wcities |

At the heart of it all |

Located directly across the Niagara Falls and close to the Skylon Tower, this park brings together local and international plants in an ever-changing seasonal display that continually amazes visitors. The park is bound by the escarpment, gorge, and river, making it a picturesque setting. Even in stark winter the park still has something to offer: the frozen mist from the Falls makes for an eerie coat on bare branches. While visiting the park, another creation of the Niagara Parks Commission, be sure to stop in at the Victoria Park Restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The park features two significant monuments: one to Major-General Isaac Brock for his victory here; the other to Laura Secord, who warned the British that the Americans were about to attack. Fine dining in the park is available at the Queenston Heights Restaurant, featuring a spectacular view of the Niagara River. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Unique view of the Falls |
454 Main St (at Rainbow Blvd) Niagara Falls, NY 14301 Canada +1 716 284 2800 |
With daily flights leaving from the Niagara Falls downtown heliport—close to the Rainbow Bridge and Howard Johnson at the Falls—this company offers an unusual and spectacular way of viewing not only the Falls, but the entire region. Using quiet engine helicopters, passengers are taken on a "limousine trip in the sky" that leaves other tour options grounded. You can also arrange night and longer private flights by appointment. Not your average park |
Military Rd Niagara Falls, NY 14303 Canada |
With four tennis courts, eight baseball diamonds, a basketball court and a softball complex, it is no wonder this is the most popular park in Niagara County. As the name indicates, it overlooks the Robert Moses Plant Reservoir where there are plenty of fish biting. Then, when the white stuff falls, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and sledding are the seasonal favorites. Anytime, a quiet walk along the nature trail is a peaceful way to end the day. Picnic areas are scattered throughout the park. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located at the narrowest point of the Niagara River, a few kilometres north of the Falls, this adventure offers visitors a spectacular view of some of the wildest whitewater anywhere. You can walk along a boardwalk a few feet away from the swirling waters. You can even see the remains of the Great Gorge Scenic Railway, once used to ferry people around the Gorge and now being slowly destroyed by the waters. Review © 2007, Wcities |
