Butterfly paradise |
306 Avenue Mozart Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur 6600 France +33 4 9333 4949 http://www.marineland.fr/ |
A good 25km from Nice (but just 200m from the biot train station), this park takes you on a voyage through the tropics and on a discovery tour of its wildlife. An entire jungle has been recreated here beneath the dome in which magnificent butterflies of many different and often rare species fly free. This is also home to other animals native to the same tropical climate, such as spiders, crocodiles and bats. This visit can often be combined with a trip to Marineland, the Petite Ferme (little farm), Adventure Golf or Aquasplash, all located on the same premises. With this in mind, day passes valid for 2 or 3 parks or a 2-day/5-park passport available from 1 July until 31 August, may prove worthwhile. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Safari on the Côte d'Azur! |
Rue de l'Estérel Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur 83600 France +33 4 9811 3737 http://www.zoo-frejus.com |
The Fréjus safari park is a good hour's drive away so the only way to get there is by car, but it is well worth the trip! In a park covering roughly twenty hectares, you can go in search of nature's strangest and most beautiful animals either on foot or by car (as if you were on a mini-safari). You'll be astounded by the elephants, monkeys, wolves, kangaroos and African porcupines, as well as a whole host of other animals. The seal training show is almost immediately followed by a tiger show. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sea life centre |
306 Avenue Mozart Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur 6600 France +33 4 9333 4949 http://www.marineland.fr/ |
The only one of its kind in Europe, this centre just 25km from Nice, is home to an impressive array of marine life. Walk along the glass tunnel through the shark pool and watch different species circling menacingly overhead. Enjoy the magic of choreographed routines performed by killer whales and dolphins, marvel at strange jellyfish or even stroke the stingrays. Another of the centre's attractions is its reconstruction of an atoll, complete with flora and fauna, crustaceans and corals. There's also a restaurant, children's play area and souvenir shop.
