Promoting African-American culture |
210 Channing Square Oklahoma City, OK 73102 United States +1 405 424 2552 |
For nearly 30 years, the center has been educating Oklahoma about other cultures through plays, musical concerts and instructional workshops with artists. BLAC Inc. is a great place to visit on your own or with the family. It illustrates how influential African-American culture has been in every artistic discipline and, through art, gives one a glimpse into life in that culture. In addition to its in-house events, the center also sponsors the annual Deep Deuce Jazz Festival. Held the first weekend in October, visitors can groove to music, sample ethnic cuisine and browse artist booths—all in mild Indian-summer weather. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Celebrating all styles of art |
Myriad Botanical Gardens Oklahoma City, OK 73102 United States +1 405 270 4848 http://www.artscouncilokc.com/ |
One of the city's major annual events, the Arts Festival offers the best creations of both artists and local eateries. Open-air booths showcase hundreds of works by artists from across the country. Every style of art can be found from paintings to sculpture and jewelry to woodworks. Prices are a bit steep for some pieces, but there are works to fit anyone's budget. If art is not your thing, do not fear. Many come just for the food. For a couple bucks, you can feast on a meal from one of the city's fine restaurants that set up booths here. FanTastic! |

Home of the Oklahoma Redhawks, Bricktown Ballpark brims with tradition, history and excitement. Its intimate seating and state-of-the-art facilities merge with the red brick retro architecture of the park. In front of the main entrance stands a big sculpture of Mickey Mantle and blown-up photos of Oklahoma baseball legends are placed liberally around the concourse. The concourse is simply wonderful as it winds all the way around the outfield so you can just stand there and gaze upon the spectators and the game. Fan seating is brought close to the field of play, while the seating bowl itself wraps gently around the field, improving lines of sight. Truly a stadium made for the fans. Review © 2007, Wcities |
