One of the city's major annual events, the Arts Festival offers the best creations of both artists and local eateries. Open-air booths showcase hundreds of works by artists from across the country. Every style of art can be found from paintings to sculpture and jewelry to woodworks. Prices are a bit steep for some pieces, but there are works to fit anyone's budget. If art is not your thing, do not fear. Many come just for the food. For a couple bucks, you can feast on a meal from one of the city's fine restaurants that set up booths here. The Lloyd Noble Center is a multi-purpose facility with many uses for the University of Oklahoma and the surrounding community since December 1, 1975. The Center is named after Lloyd Noble who served on the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma. As for the arena itself, the 11,000-seat facility has been home to outstanding men's and women's basketball teams. Yet, the Lloyd Noble Center is more than just a place for basketball. The multi-purpose arena has hosted wresting and gymnastic events, and several student banquets and commencements. The Center has also hosted several national touring concerts such as their very own KJ103 radio station's Jingle Jam that features artists such as Bowling for Soup, Vanessa Carlton and Hoobastank. Each April, the University of Oklahoma's sprawling campus is transformed to resemble an old English village. Activities abound, like jousting and other fighting simulations, puppet plays, and dancers and musicians performing authentic pieces from the age. Held over a weekend every June, the Oklahoma City Pride Parade and Festival grows in size and stature each year. With a view to support the gay, lesbian and transsexual community and lessen discrimination and homophobia, the event is lively and informative. It takes place at the Memorial Park and buzzes with activity. Various vendors and a separate children's area keep visitors entertained. Held in picturesque Guthrie, more than 25 performers will take the stage during this annual festival. Blugrass musicians who hail from all over the world have taken the stage including Vince Gill and the Sam Bush Band. Other activities include a Youth Band Contest, Fiddlers Frolic and various spontaneous jam sessions. Ticket prices are a bit expensive and there are only a few marquee-names, but this festival is guaranteed to be fun. Located in the heart of Oklahoma University, this stadium is the largest in the state. Also known as the Owen field, the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium pays homage to the legendary Bennie Owen. With a capacity to accomodate upto 75,000 fans, this stadium offers an excellent seating arrangement to catch the action live. The stadium has witnessed some of the greatest matches in football history with the Okhlahoma Sooners having won six National Championships here. The Classic is quite possibly the biggest participatory sporting event in the city. A wide-range of activities are scheduled so everyone from kids to older adults and from the perfectly toned to the regular folk can find something in which to participate. Bicycle races, a children's run, in-line skating events, a wheelchair race, 10K and 2K runs, and a 2K walk all take place.
