But that doesn't deter lovers of the performing arts from visiting the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Undoubtedly, the central venue for culture in Orlando, it has a seating capacity of 2,500 people. Host to a wide array of events, it is best known for the annual Orlando Broadway Series. The series features Broadway hits, such as Cats, as well as other international acts, such as The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. This three-day festival takes place during the annual SCREAMFEST Horror Convention at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. Each year it showcases the newest and scariest submissions from both well-known and rising independent horror filmmakers. The festival ends with an awards ceremony that includes categories such as Best Florida Horror Film, Best FX Makeup, and the Audience Choice Award.
