Skippergaten 19 P.b. 763 Sentrum Oslo 0106 Norway +47 22 41 3610 http://www.cityhotel.no |
This hotel is quite ordinary, clean and tidy, and a reasonably priced option. The location is as central as they come, all facilities are within walking distance, including shopping (on the famous Karl Johans Gate) and transport (from the Central Station). New, centrally located hotel |
Tollbugata 25 Oslo 0157 Norway +47 21 02 2800 http://www.firsthotels.com |
Only three years have passed since this distinctive building from the 1930s was restored and made into a hotel. The 114 rooms are not only brand-new, but also equipped with parquet floors; so they are quite pleasant. The hotel is proud of its exciting restaurant and bar, but has a lot of competition because of its central location, close to Karl Johan street and the Central Station. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Karl Johans Gate 31 Oslo 0159 Norway +47 23 21 2000 http://www.grand.no |
This hotel is one of the oldest and most exclusive establishments in Oslo. When pop stars visit the city, they wave at their fans from the hotel balcony (or hide behind their bodyguards in the lobby). Built in 1874, the hotel has catered to celebrities for over a century. Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen was a regular visitor to the hotel restaurant, the Grand Café. The hotel has a swimming pool, skylight bar and nightclub. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tradition and lovely atmosphere in the centre |
Stortingsgaten 24-26 Oslo 0161 Norway +47 22 82 4070 http://www.hotel-continental.no |
This is a first-class hotel that upholds a high international standard. It has tradition and a classic style, and is located right in the very heart of the city, its closest neighbour being the Nationaltheatret. The interior is new, but the atmosphere and service are old-fashioned. The same family has been running the hotel for four generations and is very proud of its membership in The Leading Hotels of the World. No wonder, considering the fact that they are the only members in Norway. Restaurant Theatercaféen has long traditions that give the place a special atmosphere. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Shopping and sightseeing |
Karl Johans Gate between Drammensveien and Nedre Slottsgate Oslo 0155 Norway |
This is Oslo's main street, a pedestrian area leading from the central station to the palace. Visitors can watch the world go by at one of the street's numerous watering holes or simply follow the crowds down the road, past street vendors and entertainers, past the parliament, national theatre, Grand Hotel and the university. With hundreds of different shops, the street is also a Mecca for shopaholics. The park between the parliament and national theatre is turned into an ice-rink in the winter. Review © 2007, Wcities |
