The menu consists of traditional pub fare served in large portions along with tantalizing curry dishes and the odd exotic main course thrown in for good measure. An incredible breakfast menu is also available on weekends, while colouring and treats are available for the kids. Heritage cobblestone courtyard |
21 George St (Near Sussex) Ottawa, ON K1N 8W5 Canada +1 613 241 1516 http://www.courtyardrestaurant... |
Private rooms are available in this massive stone restaurant, but in warmer weather most patrons prefer dining in the cobblestone courtyard. The creative outdoor tables have stencils of city scenes. Appetizers range from CAD4.50 for garlic bread with cheese to CAD9.95 for the Seafood Selection Plate. Main courses range from the Grilled Grain-Fed Breast of Chicken with a Peach and Ginger Chutney (CAD15.95) to the house specialty Rack of Lamb with Dijon Mustard (CAD27.50). The desserts, all simply divine, are also reasonably priced. The Maple Sugar Pie, a real taste of French Canada, is a steal at CAD5.50. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Neighbourhood watering hole |
321 Somerset Street East Ottawa, ON K1N 6W4 Canada +1 613 233 4807 |
This friendly neighbourhood pub is a throwback to the old country. Sitting in this Sandy Hill watering hole quaffing a pint of Guinness, you can easily imagine yourself in a pub in England or Ireland. There are eight beers on tap including the traditional favourites from across the pond, as well as a well-stocked fridge of domestic beers. The menu features traditional fish and chips as well as other pub fare, non-traditional stir-fries and pizzas. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Irish Watering Hole |
67 Clarence Street (Byward Market) Ottawa, ON K1N 5P5 Canada +1 613 562 0674 http://www.irishvillage.ca/ |
The warmth of Irish spirits flows through this roomy Irish pub. Have a nip of Bushmills whiskey or a pint of Guinness. It's hard to choose where to enjoy your beverage: at the glossy hardwood bar, in the Snug Pub near the big screen TV, in the cobblestone courtyard or on the outdoor patio. When you do get comfortable, order the fish and chips (CAD8.50), a tasty dish and good value. There is live Celtic music Wednesday through Saturday nights, and a non-smoking room is also available.
