This is a happening place to be on a hot summer night in the Byward Market, and you will be screaming for two scoops when you have a taste of the homemade Italian gelato. Neuhaus (the best in Belgium chocolates) are available from September to May each year. You can also get soups, salads and piled-high sandwiches on crusty Italian bread for a light summer meal. Located on lively Elgin Street, this funky cappuccino, juice, gelato and dessert bar is as colourful as the gelato it serves. Planned by an industrial designer to resemble a sherbet-coloured factory, the bar offers more than two dozen flavours of homemade gelato in cones, cups, frappes and shakes —all are made with fresh fruit and Italian cream. Friendly staff, bright halogen lights and upbeat music make it impossible not to be cheerful here.
