This upscale steak house is a favourite haunt of Ottawa's business and political elite. With its dark panelling, subdued lighting and private booths, Hy's is a perfect setting for a power lunch or a candlelit dinner for two. Although the menu is extensive, with selections that include baked Shellfish Thermidor and Filet of Salmon, Hy's specialty is its Charcoal-Broiled Steaks.

A favourite destination among the city's East Indian community, the restaurant specializes in curry and tandoori dishes prepared in a tandoori oven that bakes up flavourful chicken and naan bread. A highly recommended cheap and satisfying meal is the massala dosa, which comes with soup and chutney for less than CAD7.

http://www.newportrestaurant.com/ Dubbed as "World Famous," this Westboro Village culinary landmark is home to the Elvis Presley Sighting Society, a group of die-hard Elvis fans who believe the King is alive and well and living in semi-retirement in Tweed, a small town about 90 minutes west of Ottawa. Not surprisingly, the walls are covered with Elvis memorabilia. The menu contains such mainstay items as pizza and pasta dishes, burgers, sandwiches and chicken. A breakfast special of two eggs, choice of meat, home fries, toast and coffee goes for less than CAD5. A children's menu is also available.
