Centre Kapla

Game-making workshop
27 Rue Montreuil
Paris 75011
France
+33 (0)1 43 56 13 38
http://www.kapla.com/centre_ka...
The Kapla centre is located at the tip of the Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, close to the Bastille. The district is extremely charming. The furniture makers and all other trades involving wood are housed in the Faubourg. More and more fashion designers have also recently decided to open shops in the district. The writer Patrick Sûskind, in "the Perfume" very accurately describes the atmosphere (and the smell!) of the street. The Kapla centre offers workshops for children. With small pieces of wood called Kapla, they can build monsters, houses or cars. Children, a lot more than their parents, know that game and love it. The centre also offers to babysit your kid during the course! They're really friendly.

Cour Saint-Emilion

Lovely Pedestrian Shopping Street
Passage de l'Yonne
(at Gabriel Lame St.)
Paris 75012
France
Once wine storage facilities, these beautiful stone structures have been converted into shops and restaurants, making this all-pedestrian area a favorite with Parisians, especially on Sundays when most stores around the city are closed. With the humongous UGC-Ciné Cité Bercy multiplex at one end, the Cour Saint-Emilion features eateries (ranging from The Frog pub to the fancy Chai 33, with its adjacent first-rate wine boutique) as well as stores, from the ubiquitous Sephora to the Alice bookstore and even a spa, Ominsens. The neighboring park, with its tiny vineyard, is not to be missed on a sunny day. - Mary-Laure Neulat

Paris 75013
France

The name Dame de Canton (changed from Cabaret Pirate in 2008) encompasses an impressive range of possibilities: a Chinese-style yacht holds a restaurant and performance venue which transforms into a club animated by a live DJ after weekend concerts. At the restaurant, diners may choose à la carte or a formula including a meal and concert (EUR24-30). The concerts themselves are fascinating contemporary performances of music from around the world... swing and jazz, reggae, rock, afro beat, electronic music, ska, hip hop, tzigane and gypsy styles, dub, beat box, singers, and occasional events built around the music find a home at the Dame de Canton. In addition, children's programming (Wednesday afternoons: 2:45 p.m.) includes clown cabaret, musical theater, storytelling, and concerts. The boat may be rented for private events, and tickets are available online, by phone, or before the show.

You'll find tank after tank of sea creatures-Colossoma pacu, Cichlids, Cardinal Tetra and lots more. The building is also used as a venue for several exhibitions.

Vincennes Zoological Park

Paris zoo
53 Avenue de Saint-Maurice
Paris 75012
France
+33 (0)1 4475 2000

One of the best things about the Vincennes zoo is the fact that just a few métro stations from the city centre. This rather traditional zoo is an institution. On sunny Sundays, Parisians take it by storm certain to spend (finally) a great day! The 1200 animals delight the youngest visitors. To enjoy a splendid view of Paris, climb up to the mountain-goats park, 60 metres high. The most popular animals remain the seals and placid elephants, which would probably prefer to be free than well liked.
