In the Bois de Boulogne |
Bois de Boulogne Paris France |
The Acclimatization Garden only occupies a small area of the Bois de Boulogne, a huge park created under Napoléon III. In the main part of this park, one can find exotic animals, lakes, gardens and recreation areas. The young as well as the elders will immediately feel at home. The kiddies will enjoy the mini-zoo while, the older kids can try the mini-motorbikes. But if the garden is so popular, it's mainly because it offers a wide variety of games and attractions: magical mazes, mirroring games, really old and up-to-date caroussels, go-karting, roller-blade and bike routes, and other activities that have pleased Parisians for generations, even if the park has changed a lot since then. The success of the park also lies in the fact that it has managed to remain modern through the years. Don't leave the park without riding one of the many trains, which cross the gardens ... you wouldn't want to miss a terrific view of the surrounding greenery! Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Château de Meudon is ideally situated atop the highest point of a forested plateau to offer sweeping views of the Seine, of Paris, and of the glittering night sky. Today, the Observatoire de Meudon (astronomical observatory) is settled on the same plot where palatial châteaus dating back to the 14th century were enjoyed by personalities including Louis XIV, his eldest son the Grand Dauphin, and Napolean... but destroyed many times over the years. At the restaurant, diners may choose à la carte or a formula including a meal and concert (EUR24-30). The concerts themselves are fascinating contemporary performances of music from around the world... swing and jazz, reggae, rock, afro beat, electronic music, ska, hip hop, tzigane and gypsy styles, dub, beat box, singers, and occasional events built around the music find a home at the Dame de Canton. In addition, children's programming (Wednesday afternoons: 2:45 p.m.) includes clown cabaret, musical theater, storytelling, and concerts. The boat may be rented for private events, and tickets are available online, by phone, or before the show. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde |
Rue de Rivoli Paris 75001 France +33 (0)1 4020 9043 http://www.v1.paris.fr/en/visi... |
Situated right in the heart of Paris, the Jardin des Tuileries stretches from the Louvre to Place de la Concorde. Commissioned by Queen Catherine de Médicis and created in 1564 at the same time as the Palace of the same name (which was later destroyed), it was redesigned in 1664 by architect André le Nôtre, who was responsible for the layout of its paths, its symmetrical flowerbeds and its terrace overlooking the Seine. As delightful as ever, the garden is perfect for strolling and relaxing in (there are even donkey rides!). From 21st June until 25th August every year the garden plays host to a fun fair whose big wheel gives visitors a fabulous view over Rue de Rivoli. The garden is also home to the Orangerie and the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume. Admission is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |
