More than 100,000 trees! |
Bois de Boulogne Paris 75016 +33 1 4742 9056 (Ministry of Tourism) |
The Bois de Boulogne stretches over 863 hectares and is known as much for its unsalubrious associations as its variety of trees and vegetation. It was named after the sanctuary Notre-Dame de Boulogne le Petit under the reign of Philippe IV, known as Philippe le Bel. It was then partly converted to a royal hunting ground before being redesigned to include wide alleyways inviting elegant Parisians to take a stroll. Today, there are sports grounds, a swimming pool, cafés and restaurants to attract Parisians in search of nature. Review © 2009, Wcities |
