Cimetière Americain (American Cemetery and Memorial)

War Memorial
Parc Départemental du Mont Valerien
Parc Départemental du Mont Valérien
Paris 92150
+33 (0)1 4625 0170
The memorial was built in 1919 to remember American soldiers who lay down their lives fighting totalitarianism. The quiet, save for chirping birds, is stunning as you walk through rows of white crosses and stars of David (for jewish soldiers), on the green lawns. As many as 1541 soldiers of World war II are buried here, including nurses and paramedical staff. Every year on 30th May, the soldiers are honored by the French and Americans.
